In 1943 and 1946, he defeated Russian boxer Masorov and American boxer Russell twice in Shanghai with Chinese boxing, and was known as the "Dragon of Divine Fist". He used to be the director of the Wushu Teaching and Research Office of Shanghai Institute of Physical Education, the vice president of the Wushu Research Institute of the National Sports Commission, the vice chairman of the Chinese Wushu Association, and a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. In 1985, he was awarded the honorary award of "New China Sports Pioneer". He has served as the chief judge and vice president judge of national and international martial arts competitions for many times, and has gone abroad to study and give lectures for many times.
